Ballerina Janie Taylor and ballet choreographer Justin Peck, both part of the New York City Ballet, dance to the short directed by Bon Duke for the new Chloé’s dance-inspired Spring/Summer Collection 2011. The passioned routine was concieved by Peck, in the attempt to capture the multidimensional aspects of ballet on camera. Together they create a really unique viewing experience by mixing ballet wth the delicate S/S 11 Chloé collection.
In the video, Janie sensually dances to a slow pace string quartet music whith her dancepartner, while her outfits gradually change from one dress to another. The complexity and beauty of the ballet is perfectly plasmated in the short, giving the spectator the opportunity to fully enjoy the collection from all angles and with much movement. This season Chloé expresses a feeling of energy and optimism. Janie Taylor achieves to gather both grace and feminity, wich altogether imperson the Chloé woman.
The film was styled by creative director James Worthington DeMolet, who was adamant about securing Janie Taylor for the project. Taylor, now 30, has established herself as one of ballet’s premier leading ladies in her 14 years with NYCB. Currently she is in rehearsals for the upcoming spring season, beginning in May.
The video campaign is a production from Nowness, watch the video here:
