Brother sister fashion design duo Alpha60 have populated underground stores and shopping alleys worth cruising since launching their Melbourne based label in 2005. Working under the narrative ‘sophisticated quirk’, their photoprint tunics and oversized, asymmetrical garments are nothing less than iconic urban wear.
This season, their collection was inspired by the Wierner Werkstatte movement in Vienna in the early 1900′s. Designer Georgie Cleary explains: “It was an amazing time for design …. it was the first time people started designing all elements of life, from forks to dresses, buildings to chairs.
It was the first time groups in society came together to talk ‘ideas’. From the poor artist to aristocrats.” With brother Alex, Georgie works out of one of Australia’s most creative cities. Seeking out film, art, music and urban culture to instinctively lead them towards their next clothing pattern, their next graphic design and ultimately, their next amazing collection.
