The hip Monsieur Vuong in Berlin Mitte is something like the Darth Vader of Berlin’s Vietnamese gastronomy scene: extremely powerful. Hundreds of guests go there daily, blinded by the restaurant’s fame which also has its dark side: lack of seating and time pressure. Droves of people mean that you sit side by side with strangers at a table and the moment your chopsticks clatter against the empty porcelain bowl, the waiter races over with the bill… your seat now belongs to the next paying customer.
